Green Lemon Water

No.1 Green Lemon Water

1 tablespoon green lemon juice
500cc water

Method
1.Mix one tablespoon (Chinese type used in soup) to 500 cc water.
2. Keep your lemon water in a glass jar with lid or in a stainless steel flask.
Consume within the same day.

Tips
You can make extra juice and freeze them in the ice cube trays. Lemon ice cubes can be frozen for up to a month.
One ice cube is equivalent to 1 tablespoon of juice. I usually drink up to 2000cc of green lemon water per day.
Did you know that lemon juice sprinkled over other fruits prevents oxidation (discoloration).

How To Choose
Lemon is oval in shape - bright and firm green lemons are best and should be a little tender to the touch. Extreme hardness indicates that the lemon is very old. A rough skin surface usually means less juice content. Smooth-skinned lemons tend to be juicer. Lemons should be refrigerated for a longer shelf-life of up to two to three weeks. It is sometimes mistaken for the lime.

Benefits & Nutritional Highlights
The humble lemon contains vitamin A, B, C and the rare vitamin P. Although lemon juice can be sour in taste, its reaction in the body is alkaline.

Digestive Problems: It stimulates the flow of saliva and gastric juice and is regarded as an excellent digestive agent. It eliminates the gases formed in the digestive tract, is beneficial in the treatment of several digestive problems like constipation and dyspepsia. Drinking lemon water easily relieves heartburn.

Cold: For a bad cold, juice two lemons and combine with 500ml of boiling water, sweeten with honey, and take at bedtime.

Circulatory Disorders: The lemon is a rich source of vitamin P, found both in the juice and peel of the fruit. Vitamin P is essential for controlling hemorrhage in a variety of conditions and for preventing capillary fragility. It is regarded as a valuable food medicine in high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis. It strengthens the entire arterial system and is of value in many circulatory disorders and heart weakness.

Rheumatic Affections: Although lemon juice can be sour in taste, its reaction in the body is alkaline. This causes it to be valuable in the treatment of rheumatic affections such as gout, rheumatism, sciatica, lumbago, and pain in hip joints, which results from too much acid in the body. A sufficient intake of lemon juice prevents the deposit of uric acid in the tissues and thus reduces the possibility of an attack of gout.

Quick Serving Ideas
Combine lemon juice with olive oil, freshly crushed garlic and black pepper to make a light and refreshing salad dressing. If you are watching your salt intake (and even if you are not), serve lemon wedges with meals as their tartness makes a great salt substitute.
